Our vision
Cobberdogs with a heart of gold, raised in a warm family
House of Bears is a small-scale, home-based family initiative that focuses with love and care on the occasional raising of purebred Australian Cobberdog puppies in a warm home environment. With us, everything revolves around character, health, and connection. Our Cobberdogs grow up as a full member of our family, surrounded by peace, attention, and the daily experiences that contribute to a stable and well-balanced dog. That is important to us.
This also means that we only plan a litter occasionally, exclusively when there is the time, space, and attention for it. This way, we can give each puppy the guidance, socialization, and love it needs, and the well-being of the mother dog always remains our top priority. Finally, it must also be a good fit for our family.
At House of Bears, we believe that a Cobberdog is not just a dog, but a family member for life. And that starts with a warm, careful start.
Here you can read more about who I am, how my passion for dogs originated, and why I eventually started House of Bears (and why the word "breeder" just doesn't feel quite right to me).

An exceptional mother dog and the best foundation for your future puppy
Our dam Teddy is a purebred medium Australian Cobberdog with a stable, social, and friendly temperament. Her DNA has been extensively tested for hereditary conditions, and her joints have also been examined and found to be in good condition. Based on her health, build, temperament, and overall quality, she is also officially registered as an Australian Cobberdog with the MDBA.
With this recognition, Teddy forms the foundation of a new bloodline within the Australian Cobberdogs. In doing so, we contribute responsibly to the health, well-being, and genetic diversity within the breed. Her balanced and calm temperament, build, and beautiful red wavy fleece coat make her a special and very valuable foundation for high-quality puppies.
We are incredibly proud of Teddy!

Our Teddy

Our puppies
Where closeness, attention, and love come together, the Cobberdog flourishes.
Our puppies grow up in our home, right in the middle of our family, surrounded by children and the everyday sounds of life. We do this for a clear reason: the Australian Cobberdog is a distinctly people-oriented dog. This is not a dog that just ‘walks along,’ but a full-fledged family member that needs closeness, involvement, and genuine attention to thrive.
We therefore deliberately look for people who truly allow their dog to be part of the family. Families with children often fit this perfectly; Cobberdogs are known for their gentle, loyal, and empathetic nature and feel most at home in a lively, loving environment. However, even in households with one or two adults, a Cobberdog often receives plenty of peace, structure, and individual attention.
These dogs form strong bonds with their humans and greatly enjoy a close bond, shared activities, and a predictable daily routine. Most importantly, of course, is that you can offer your puppy a warm and stable home with time, care, and attention.
A Cobberdog does not ask for perfect conditions, but rather presence, involvement, and love. Only then will everything this special breed has to offer come fully into its own. That is what we look for in a match.

An honest story about our popular "allergy-friendly" dogs
A subject we like to be transparent about from the start is the (marketing) term hypoallergenic dog.
Perhaps that is even one of the reasons why you are interested in an Australian Cobberdog. After all, many people end up with a Cobberdog or another doodle breed because they have heard that these dogs are suitable for people with a dog allergy.
Within our own family, we have had positive experiences with doodle-type breeds. In the case of our grandfather (my father), there is an allergy to hair. He hardly reacts to our previous dogs Jack (poodle), Saar (labradoodle), and Tess (Australian Labradoodle), nor to our own dogs Pip and Ted (Australian Cobberdog). Unconsciously, we have tested all doodle-type breeds, and it went well.
However, we must make an important distinction here.
After all, allergies are not only caused by dog hair. Scientific research shows that people usually react to certain proteins found in, among other things, the saliva, dander, sebum, and urine of dogs. There is (yet) no single dog breed that has been proven to be completely hypoallergenic.
Researchers do not yet know why some people with a dog allergy experience fewer symptoms with certain doodle breeds. We are awaiting further research. What we do know is that every allergic person reacts differently. We believe it is important to be realistic and transparent in this regard. We do not make promises that no one can keep with certainty.
Perhaps that is not the answer some people hope to hear. We firmly believe that honesty always forms the best basis for a good match between dog and family. The last thing we would want is for both a family and a dog to end up in a difficult situation later on because expectations and reality do not align. The well-being of our puppies is always our top priority.
Is there a dog allergy in your family? If so, our advice is to spend a considerable amount of time with dogs of a similar coat type beforehand, preferably for a week, so that it becomes clear whether an allergic reaction occurs.

We are expecting another litter!
Have you become enthusiastic about an Australian Cobberdog after reading the above? That's great!
Ted's first litter produced four beautiful, deep red male puppies. We have carefully planned her second litter and expect it in early December 2026.
If you are interested in a puppy from us, you may express your interest via this form . After the birth of our healthy puppies, we will contact you to see if there is a match. This is a special and beautiful time for us, during which we thoroughly enjoy Teddy's pregnancy and the upcoming little ones, while also devoting a great deal of attention to their care, development, and socialization.
If you particularly enjoy following us or our litter, we would like to refer you to our blog and Instagram .
A litter at House of Bears is special, because we do not have a continuous supply.
We breed as a hobby, and a litter must fit our family perfectly. We do not offer our litters on a regular schedule or on a structured basis. The well-being and health of our dogs, as well as our family life, always come first.
After this litter, we will not be having another litter for the time being. Teddy is being given all the time and rest she needs to recover. The careful aftercare of mother and puppies also requires the necessary time and attention. Furthermore, having a litter must be feasible for our family and our jobs. We have now consciously taken the time to focus fully on Teddy and the puppies. Whether and when another litter will come in the future depends on the recovery and well-being of our dogs and on what is appropriate for us at that moment.
So, once we have enough registrations, we will close the registration list again. We do not work with a waiting list. Just too late? Keep an eye on our Instagram .
